Are your headaches coming from your neck or shoulders?
Cervicogenic headaches are the most common cause of headaches we find in clinic. These are headaches which stem from the little muscles at the top of the neck (suboccipitals) or the upper shoulder muscles fibres (trapezius) or the top joints in the neck, especially the top three vertebrae (C0-C3), where about 70% of cervical movement comes from. These little joints are very easily over used, from such things a looking at our phones, tablets, talking on mobiles, reading the paper etc. If you are not sure what type of headaches you have or why, then do feel free to come in for an examination and we will be able to give you a proper diagnosis.
Cervicogenic headaches tend to feel like a dull ache in the back of the skull or in the temple, quite often on one side. Often the cause can also be from; stress and strain from desk work, commuting, stress and posture. Fortunately research shows that these types of headaches respond really well to Chiropractic treatment. So if you have been suffering unnecessarily with headaches related to your neck or shoulders, then do try Chiropractic treatment. It might be quicker and easier to treat than you might expect!
